Description:
The subspecies occurring in Malaysia is Elephas maximus hirsutus.
The gestation period is about 20 to 22 months and the lifespan is
60 to 80 years.
Behavior:
Females and their young live in small herds while adults males prefer
to be alone. They rest during the hottest hours of the day. Each
group has its own area where it forages for food. They enjoy swimming
in rivers.
Habitat:
In Secondary and Primary forests.

African Elephants.
Diet:
Leaves, fruits, grass, stems etc.
